Got an extra toothbrush?

For some people, this might be considered an awkward question. However, my personal hygiene standard does not go out the window when I stay over at someone's house. Of course, packing a toothbrush would be the smart thing to do, but sometimes stayovers are not always planned. The thought of morning breath is dispicable, much less the thought of cavities, tartar, etc. considering the investment in my teeth so far. Sure, skipping one night of brushing might be ok once in awhile, but a toothbrush is simple enough to provide.

I usually purchase a 6-pack of toothbrushes at Costco. Toothbrushes are not cheap, or at least not the ones that I use. When I have overnight guests, I kindly offer a toothbrush. My dentist and orthodontist always give me free toothbrush sets, so I've got some spares in my car. Call me "prepared" or call me "too lazy to clean out my car"- either way it's the same to me.

When I started dating someone new awhile ago, I didn't want to stay over since I didn't have a toothbrush. He didn't have any extra toothbrushes. Despite his offer, sharing his toothbrush was not an option either. After some deliberate consideration, I mentioned that I had some toothbrushes in my car. He gave me an odd look, as if to say, "Why do you have extra toothbrushes in your car?? You seem to be a bit too prepared." I didn't think it was odd until this very moment.

Is it really odd to have extra toothbrushes for myself or for guests? Here's another food for thought: Is it ok to share toothbrushes?
