Tengo caliente
That's one thing I was told not to say. My highschool Spanish teacher warned us that this idiomatic phrase meant something else. Now I cannot remember how to say, "I'm hot." Maybe "Estoy caliente." Regardless, I get a kick out of it.
I tell friends that I'm heading to Mexico today for work. They exclaim, "Wow." Sadly enough, I respond, "My customer is not in Cancun."
I arrived at the hotel late tonight after driving about 8 hours with a dinner break in between. Someone told me last minute that I needed my passport for the business visa, which added at least another hour to my commute. I had to go home (north) and then turn around (south). Seeing how much I spent on gas this morning, the company will be charged for my miles in this case.
It's not too bad here. The pool looks inviting... I didn't bring my swimsuit and then my colleague warned me not to go in my birthday suit. Duh.
The air conditioning in my room was not turned on (yet). I feel like I'm baking in an oven. It's not that bad, but it's definately warmer than LA or SD. It's about 60F in SD/LA, while 70F in Mexico right now. I joke around that my temp range varies between +/- 2.5 degrees, but I think it's true since the difference between high and low in Hermosa is 3 degrees. Mexico's temperatures don't seem so constant. Tomorrow the low is 53F (not bad, right?), but the high is 91F (ouch). Thank goodness we should be indoors most of the time except when we take a lunch break.
Not sure if I'll be able to fall asleep tonight with the AC blaring. At least, it's not too humid like in other parts of SEA (South East Asia). I recall stepping out of the car in Thailand and start dripping before I hit the hotel lobby. At least, the hotel room doesn't smell like mold like that in the Singapore airport when I stayed for a layover. It could be worse...
This should be the last trip for awhile. I don't mind traveling except for the fact that I'm still sick. zzz...
