Hit and run, but failed

As normal, my brother went to his car to go out for his lunch break during work. But one day, he noticed a large dent in the passenger side of his car. That's funny, that wasn't there earlier...

Being a insurance claims adjuster, my brother started his own investigation. He walked around to inspect nearby cars in the parking lot at work. With his handy dandy ruler, he measured the height of the damage. There was black rubber residue on his tan paint. About 8 cars away, he found another car with some damage to it's front black bumper with some chips of tan paint- looks like a match! My brother nonchalantly left his business card on the windshield, with a note saying "Please call me." Of course, he wrote down the car description before he walked away.

The next day, he received an email from a girl saying she was sorry and didn't know what to do. Anyhow, they exchanged information. In the end, my brother got money to fix the dent. I think that the girl should have been taught a lesson somehow. What an idiot!

Moral of the story: If you will attempt a "hit and run" in a parking lot, make sure to park your car far away from the other car. However, "honesty is the best policy". If you're dumb enough to hit something that wasn't moving, you should fess up. You work in the same building, it's a small world. What an idiot!
