Another parking ticket?!
I got a parking ticket last month for an expired meter in Hermosa Beach. We arrived and walked straight to the restaurant, didn't even think about the meter. In the middle of dinner, it hit me, so I ran outside, but it was too late. I didn't bother to put money in the meter, so I left the parking ticket on my car window. Darn it, $35 down the drain.
Yesterday like every day for the past couple years, I parked my car on the street outside of work, not in the parking lot. I worked through lunch again. My coworker told me she got ticketed at lunch time, even though she always parks in the same spot. I said, "My car is out there too!" We looked out the window to see the meter maid giving me a ticket too. My coworker didn't recognize my rental car, so she didn't warn me. Darn it, $50 down the drain. Yes, $50! I can't believe it.
We found out that the city started street sweeping on Wednesdays 11am-3pm. If I had gone to lunch as normal, then I would have missed the parking ticket. However, we've been parking on the street for years! We didn't see the new signs that were posted at the corner and end of the block, since we park in the middle. I called to find out that the law requires only 1 sign per block, so it's the citizen's duty to drive around the block. I thought there would be a minimum or maximum distance between signs, but no- 1 stupid sign per block. I asked for a website or reference where this rule/law is listed, but the parking enforcement person didn't know. What the heck?
Anyhow, that's a total of $85 that could have been used for shopping, i.e. a nice pair of jeans from A&F. I hate wasting money.
