Anal or Analytical?

Today, I realized that the word "anal" is part of "analytical". Not mind-blowing news or anything, but something amusing to me...

The other night, I was compiling all the bills for my roomies and me. Each of us take care of some of the bills on our own, but we don't split it on a monthly basis. I wait until I get scared that I might owe them a fortune, which is about every 6 months. It got complicated, so I started an Excel spreadsheet. Call me nerdy, but it's more accurate and easier to track. Since I had about a year's worth of data by now, I decided to analyze the data in Minitab- scatterplot (see above), pie chart, and stacked bar chart.

It was interesting to find trends or abnormalities. Last year, I had noticed a spike in our gas bill, 3-4 times higher usage than normal. Promptly, our landlord changed out the water heater and now the gas bill is almost back to normal. Who's nerdy now?

Analytical = Anal
