Another blogger will be born
I suggested that my friend start blogging for his around-the-world trip. He sold his condo, quit his job, and is training for triathlons around the world. His ultimate goal is to compete in the Olympics. What a great goal in life. He can afford to travel for the next 10 months. What a great life. I know he is feeling up and down about this imminent trip, but blogging can be the method for keeping in touch with friends and family.
His first stopover is Japan and Southeast Asia, then to New Zealand, Europe and other far ends of the world. Even though I've been to Asia for business, I'm interested to see the world through his eyes. He'll be having fun doing races and outdoorsy stuff, while I'm usually couped up in a hotel or company's meeting room, looking out the window with a rare chance to wander off.
After my personal one hour tutorial with him, I hope he will be able to launch his blog soon. I don't know what his username will be yet, but he will be added to my blogroll of course. He's not a total newbie to the blogosphere, since he used to have an online journal about his outdoor climbing adventures in Colorado, but that was in the pre-Blogger days. It's too bad he didn't keep a copy or archive it. One day I (or we) will look back at this, laugh and/or cry. My LTM (long term memory) is not so good, so blogging aids me as well.
