What's a courtesy bell?

For work, I get to travel overseas, mostly in South East Asia. One time in Korea or Thailand, I forget which country, I learned a new restroom etiquette. Yes, the story does get a bit more exciting, but no toilet jokes here, no worries. I noticed a "courtesy bell" inside the stall. Hmm... I wondered what it was. Call me Alice in Wonderland- I pressed the courtesy bell. Lo and behold, the sound of bells clanged for the whole world to hear (or for anyone within ear shot). I was horrified. I did not want to walk out of that restroom stall. The purpose behind the courtesy bell makes common sense. A bell sound is more pleasing to the ear than anything else from a restroom. Anyhow, use courtesy bell as needed.
